the top Pool Cues made for fighting

I bet the headline got your attention but we notice that there seems to be a lot of reporting online of assaults on people with a pool cue. We have to admit to scratching our heads here as to why people consider a pool cue a suitable choice for a weapon. Maybe its the sword like length but we recommend a pool cue is only good for one thing - PLAYING POOL... not literally knocking 2 bags of crap out of your opponent.

More details on deadly assaults with a pool cue can be found here:

Jimmy White Slated for Poor Performance

Mark King took the chance of reaching the final stages of the World Snooker Championship for the 26th time away from Jimmy White in a dramatic 10-3 defeat in this years qualifying stages.

In a conference after the match played at Sheffield Jimmy White explained that his poor performance during this match was down to a cricked neck. "The injury could not have happened at a worse time," said the six-time Crucible finalist.

This is yet another defeat for Jimmy White in his recent career and is causing some papers and fans to turn on him. Saying that his star is fading fast, when in reality you cant win championships all the time. Jimmy white may be having a bad 2008 so far, but with his experience and talent he will bounce back.

Jimmy White is ranked number 75 provisionally in the worlds rankings which will see him into the main tour for next season.

Despite White's claims to have had a cricked neck, though it is said that he appeared relaxed prior the 1000hrs BST start on Monday and showed no sign of carrying an injury.

Jimmy plaid some exceptional shots during the match and took the 6th frame after potting a red from a safety to go and win 83-30. In the 10th frame Jimmy White took the frame with a score of 90 which brought a huge roar from the peoples champions fans.

He then went on to take the 11th frame bringing the scores back to 8-3.

The fans were hoping for a reminiscent reenactment of a Dennis Taylor-esque come back, but a glorious 72 break from King, the best in the match, was followed by an error strewn 13th frame which proved to be un-lucky for White. With the result settled people started to leave, streaming into the rain on the south yorkshire streets.

Get A Top Quality Ash Shaft For Your Cue

The NEW XS-SHAFT Brand - the complete all in one shaft, FEEL
THE DIFFERENCE.

Shaft technology is a significant part of a cue and we believe that the XS-SHAFT will offer you top quality and reliability where you see thre XS mark.

Here is a guide that will help you evaluate cues from any maker/retailer.
Generally, makers can aquire three grades of Ash. Lets call them grades A, B and C.

Grade A Ash Shaft Grades
This is the highest quality grade and all our XS-SHAFT cues use it. You should be able to see an attractive feather like effect, each feather being clearly formed. You can buy grade A ash cues from our site here.

Grade B
This is when the shaft's feather effect is not formed consistently. There is still a pleasing aesthetic look, though without that complete feather formation.

Grade C
This is the lowest possible grade of shaft, both aesthetically and - to a degree - from a performance perspective. Why? Some players use the feather to align themselves during setup of a shot. Grade C shafts have virtually no complete feather formation. Instead, there is just grainy formation with little pattern.

So what about the XS-SHAFT?

The XS-SHAFT is made of Grade A north American Ash.

Each shaft is fitted with a premium, high-quality polished brass ferrule engineered to fit precisely, as if the shaft and ferrule were one piece of ash with no ridges to spoil the cue's sleek lines.
Each joint is individually engineered to fit - as is the brass ferrule - so that it fits flush. Shaft, ferrule and joint should be as one and that's precisely what we promise with every XS-SHAFT.
Each XS-SHAFT is turned up to six times in order to provide a silk-like, smooth finish. We gaurantee no knots, lumps or bumps. Feel the difference by buying an XS shaft cue today.

Remember - if you can't see feather formation but just a grainy or wishy-washy, nondescript effect you are probably buying the lowest grade of Ash.

Why is Aramith such a good quality ball?

Aramith - Saluc

Not just a smart buy but a wise investment

A quality investment

Perfectly round and balanced - uniform weight and hardness - brilliant colours - friction resistant roll and reaction - are just a few of the key features that have earned Aramith its worldwide reputation as the premiere ball. Aramith balls are internationally approved for tournaments and championships. You can buy WPBSA approved tournament champion snooker balls as used in the world championships and tournament pool balls as used in the world pool championships from our website.

A lifetime investment

Aramith phenolic balls last up to 5 times longer than other balls made from polymers or polyester. The billiard-play simulator leaves no doubt: Aramith phenolic balls are still perfectly playable even after 400000 hits, whereas others were rendered unusable. No wonder they are the logical choice for commercial and private table-owners.

A money-saving investment

Thanks to their exceptionally long service life Aramith guarantees the lowest ball cost over time. The extra hard phenolic surface drastically reduces burn spots on both balls and cloth. As a result, balls need to be polished and replaced far less, saving both time and money.

A money-making investment

Aramith balls on the table attract league and tournament players. They enhance the quality image and reputation of any club. Regulars and newcomers stay to improve their play. By generating more income out of each table while lowering operating costs, Aramith balls help increase profits in the long run. And that's how one gets to see the real color of money.

Aramith phenolic resin: why it makes the difference!

Heavy duty design

Rather than a polyester number-plug-design, the Aramith concept has the numbers precision-engraved in a solid core that runs all the way through the ball. As such, it is impossible for number-cores to fall out over time. Using phenolic resin assures homogeneous characteristics in each ball part. So homogeneous that when finally getting to its breaking point (and one needs minimum a 5 ton-load in case of an Aramith ball), the ball will break up totally at random, and not along the parting line between the stripe and the rest of the ball, as one would expect.

Burn-spot resistant

Hitting a cue ball actually accelerates it from 0 to over 30 km/h (20 MPH) in just a fraction of a second. The resulting friction temperature between ball and cloth can easily reach 250°c (482°F). That's why Aramith balls are the only ones made from genuine phenolic resin: their molecular structure is engineered to be wear resistant at these high temperatures, making Aramith balls far less vulnerable to abrasive burn-spots. They hold their high lustre and smoothness over a much longer period of time, resulting in minimal ball and table cloth wear.

High Impact resistance

Because hitting the balls is the essence of the billiard game, impact resistance is a critical factor. Aramith's phenolic heat-curing process fully stabilizes material tensions. It produces a vitrified high-density surface that offers maximum impact resistance. Tests show Aramith phenolic balls to withstand to over 50 times more impacts than other polymer or polyester balls. They are also twice more scratch-resistant.

Consequently, when intensively used even on less maintained tables, Aramith balls are clearly far less easily damaged than others by pocket fixings, and table mechanisms or cue sticks...

Aramith phenolic resin: designed for high precision play

Guaranteed "no polyester", genuine Aramith phenolic balls have all the characteristics the demanding player expects.

The ultimate in balance

Constant density and balance are of the essence to control speed, direction, spin, impact and rebound in the game.

Through-hardened phenolic resin offers the unique advantage of a completely stabilized material with homogeneous density dispersion throughout each Aramith ball. With the centre of gravity at the centre of the ball, the resulting ultimate balance guarantees perfectly true and accurate roll.

Perfect rebound

Far more important than ball tolerances are the balls rebound capacities. Only predictable rebounds allow strategic repositioning of the cue ball to optimise the following shot. The unique elasticity of the phenolic Aramith resin has been calibrated to offer the optimal level of rebound to allow players to fully control the effect of every shot.

Worldwide endorsement

The exclusive use of Aramith phenolic balls by most professional tours, federations and amateur leagues in championships and tournaments worldwide is an undisputed endorsement of the quality reputation and superior performance of Aramith balls.

  • AVOID leaning your cue against a wall as this can also cause warping in your cue be it a pool cue, snooker cue carom cue or any type of cue.
